This is mostly in reaction to reading a snide, negative review from someone who certainly sounds a bit too Karen-ish to be taken seriously. Reed's is truly great. The guy is a technician who fixed an heirloom leather bomber jacket for me, in addition to a half dozen suits over a half dozen years. I've tried all the high-priced guys in Georgetown - guys with their own coat of arms and what not - and Reed blows them away in terms of competence and turn-around time. There is no other place I take my business.

This man is the best, really easy to work with and did a great job with my clothes! I will definitely be returning and recommend him to anyone who needs repairs or tailoring done.

I've been going to Reed's for awhile now, and I always get the best quality work. Seriously this man knows what he's doing. He's honest, thoughtful and fully transparent when it comes to price and turnaround time. He kindly took my measurements when I asked, and is always someone I can rely on.

I was in a bit of a bind for time when considering who to go to for the tailoring of my new suit, and Reed's Tailoring had good enough reviews for me to take a chance on. I considered all the bad reviews, however the vast majority of the reviews on Yelp were pretty good, so I took a chance. I bought the suit one size too big as I was advised to get one size bigger due to the company making the suits a bit small. I am typically a 42 long but purchased a 44 long. The Tailor advised me that I had purchased the suit one size too big and that he would do his best to accommodate my needs. In about a week's time I received the phone call informing me that my suit was ready to be picked up just in time for my friend's wedding. To my surprise, the suit fit perfectly. The suit fit so well that I was complimented several times throughout the night. I can honestly say that I will be a returning customer, and so will all the people at the wedding I referred Reed's Tailoring to!

Best tailor in Arlington, hands down! $18 for pants is well worth it because they do such an excellent job. I had 4 pairs of dress pants that I thought were a lost cause and they fixed them to perfection (replacing them would have cost me hundreds of dollars). I will not go anywhere else for tailoring services.

Worth every Penny. I got 2 suits, a tux, a coat, and 2 pairs of pants done and they all came out perfectly. This company knows what they are doing.

Reed's did a superb job tailoring my new suit. Perfect fit!

Our son's favorite leather jacket had a lining that was in shreds from 20 years of wear since we gave it to him for a special celebratory milestone. He looked for a replacement leather jacket and could find nothing comparable for a fair price. Reed's to the rescue. They replaced the shreds with fine satin-like lining and rebuilt the inside leather pockets and labeling exactly like the original. It's very handsome. Reed's is a neighborhood treasure for your finest tailoring needs.

I've been coming to Reeds for about 3 years now and probably dropped off about 6 - 7 skirts in the past six months to be altered in one way or another. I have never been disappointed in the quality of work and my skirts have come out fitting seamlessly! My skirt alterations have ranged anywhere from $25 - $48 (major rework in sides and waist on a wool skirt) and I've always thought his prices were reasonable. Usually he turns around alterations on a single piece in a week but may stretch to 10 days with multiple pieces and his workload. I highly recommend him for your alterations!

This was a great overall experience. Tailor was very friendly, informative and thorough. I was very happy with the end result too. And the amount of work needed on my suit and shirt was comprehensive. Hemming the pants, shortening the sleeves, bringing in the center/back of the jacket, and shrinking the shirt overall. Pricing was in line with my expectations, even threw in a small discount for the bulk work

Met with the owner to go over the details of slimming down my coat. It was a little complex because I was taking it down from a 12 to a 4-6. I was relieved when he told they could do it after so many people had told me no. When I got the coat back it was perfect and he charged me $35 less than originally quoted. Will come back for all of my tailoring needs.

I've been going to Reed's for 4 years; 90% of the time for getting my (always too long) off-the-rack pants hemmed or suit jacket arms shortened. Although I haven't done a lot of searching, $18 for a pant hem seems fairly standard--and for somebody who can barely sew on a button, that's my penance! Turn-around is sometimes a week; sometimes two, neither of which are unusual in this area.

Reed's did a great job at getting my dress and my date's suit tailored in time for my friend's wedding. Very skilled and helpful. Real friendly guy. A little pricy but you get what you pay for.

Reed's does excellent, careful work at a reasonable price. I've had them do everything from simple hems to taking a suit apart for complete alteration, and they've done a great job every time. If you need something in a rush, they'll accommodate your schedule, too. Very skilled. Highly recommended, except perhaps for getting in and out of their parking lot, which I hate.

I had a wonderful first time experience with Reed's Custom Tailors. I had him fit a couple of suits for me and was very satisfied with the quality of his work. He takes great pride in his business and it shows in the quality of his work and customer service. Reed's is the only place that I will consider going. If you look hard enough you can find cheaper work but you wont find better.

I had an excellent experience here. I'd driven past a million times and was vaguely aware they rented formalwear, but didn't have an occasion to rent a tux until recently. I went in about ten days before I needed the suit and got fitted. It was ready when I returned (as scheduled) to pick it up, and it fit perfectly, no further alterations needed.

The price was fair and the owner even let me have it a little longer than their usual rental period at no extra charge (I was attending a wedding out of town).

It was friendly and easy from start to finish, and I hadn't actually imagined I'd look that good in black tie. Now I'll have to start running around in swankier circles so I can get dressed up more often.

I have been a customer of Farid now for between eight and ten years. He is a great tailor - and everything that I buy off the rack goes to him. Also, anything that needs to be altered also goes to him as well. He gets things right the first time, and if you start going to him regularly he knows your body type, as well as what you like and don't like in tailoring (i.e. cuffs in suit pants, full break, etc). We need to keep great small businesses like this alive in Arlington!

What a great place! I had a dress that needed some alterations, which were very tricky due to the dress being chiffon with a sweetheart neckline and side zipper. When I got the dress back it fit perfectly. The owner is also extremely polite and amiable. I will never go anywhere else for tailoring!

I bought a Ben Sherman suit for a crazy good deal but it needed some tailoring. I looked around online buy everything in my area was poorly reviewed. Then I found Reed's and based on the reviews, I gave it a shot.

He is fast, professional, and witty. As far as price goes, i was very satisfied. True, you may be able to find a cheaper tailor out in the burbs but this guy knows his way around a suit. Don't take chances. Go with Reed's. My suit truly fits like a glove.

I've never had to get a suit altered before, so, with an off-the-rack suit in hand, I ventured onto Yelp to find someone who wouldn't totally mangle it - I was a groomsman in a wedding and we were all buying the same suit, and this was the last one in my size.

The storefront itself is pretty tough to find, and parking is even more difficult, but once you step inside you get the sense that it's a no-nonsense establishment. Once I explained what I wanted to the gentleman behind the counter, he directed me to the dressing room to change into the very loose-fitting suit. He then had me stand in front of the mirror and started pinching the fabric every which way, making marks with chalk. He asked a few questions that I wouldn't have known the answers to if I had not researched suit fitting beforehand (e.g. "How do you want the cuff to fall?"), but, other than that, this first stage was fairly quick and painless. I was in and out in 15 minutes.

I came back in a week's time, as instructed, and my suit was ready. I went into the back to try it on... and it fit. Perfectly. I gratefully paid him and was on my way.

At no point during my time in the store did they try to upsell or market anything to me, which was refreshing. The only downsides I can really think of are that it was a little more expensive than I had thought, and they don't leave the tags with the washing instructions on (as mentioned in some of the other reviews here).

The suit made it through a night of heavy merriment without any damage to the seams, so the quality of Reed's work is more than acceptable. I'd recommend them to others looking for a tailor in the area.

I used this store's service when I had to go back to the UK to the British House of Lords for an event. Reed's could not have been more helpful, and we made a price for the rental, even though I'd need a few extra days.

When I bought my wedding dress it was too long and i needed to get it altered so I stopped at a random tailor (NOT Reed's) to get it shortened... to any bride-to-be's biggest nightmare - that tailor messed up the alterations and the dress was not even wearable.

Here comes Reed's Tailors to the rescue! They not only fixed the mistake that the other tailor had done, Reed's made my dress perfect for my wedding... I could not have been more thankful. The tailors at Reed's are very patient and are excellent at what they do. Great customer service and worked within the tight deadline that i had.

My husband and his groomsman also ended up renting tuxes from them. All in all we had a wonderful experience.

Over the years we have also sent friends and family to Reed's for all kinds of alteration and i've always and only heard good things.

In the fall of 2009, based on the positive Google reviewers, I decided to have my suit (woman) alteration done at Reed's Custom Tailors. My alteration was done with care and was ready on date promised. Earlier this month, I brought in two more women's dress pants, (Ann Taylor and Nanette Lapore brands), and was again completely satisfied. One of the pants had an accessory-like belt on it and the tailor was able to adjust waist size without damaging the design of the pants. Prior to Reed Tailor's I had taken a pair of cashmere wool blend (Ann Taylor) pants to Georgetown valet and they had only adjusted waist size by tucking in material in the back and dared not adjust pants near the sides of the waist. This was another huge difference! The quality from Georgetown Valet was very poor in comparison to Reed Custom Tailor's. The pants taken to both alteration services were the same brand (Ann Taylor) and closely the same cut (low waist, bell bottom like pants). They will remain my first choice for excellent quality alteration, price, and genuinely friendly customer service.

I've been a happy customer for 3 years at Reeds. The owner and his staff have handled both my clothes and my fiance's - ranging from suits to bridesmaids dresses and everything in between.

We have tried other tailors over the years and always come back to Reeds for a few reasons. Their prices are reasonable, their work is consistently great and their customer service is excellent. If tailoring were an exact science, people wouldn't need to have multiple fittings - so I don't expect things to always be perfect the first time through.
